Wrestling Welcomes Six in the Class of 2030

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton wrestling team will welcome six new talented members in the Class of 2030 this Fall.
Coming off a year of marked progress, capped off with Marc-Anthony McGowan reaching the finals at the NCAA Championships, these new Tigers will join a momentum-backed squad that will seek new levels of success in 2026-2027.
“I’m extremely excited for the addition of this talented class of new Tigers. As a staff, we were able to bring in some nationally ranked individuals while also adding depth to the areas that were needed on our squad,” said Head Coach Joe Dubuque. “The thing I’m most excited about is how they are going to add to the culture of our program. Tiger alumni and fans should be very eager for the Great Class of 2030 to represent the Orange & Black.”

Joey Canova | 157 | Kinnelon, NJ | Bergen Catholic
New Jersey State Champion Joey Canova will stay in his home state to join the Tigers this Fall at 157 lbs.
Hailing from Kinnelon, N.J., Canova is a Super 32 All-American, Beast of the East All-American, and a Powerade All-American. He is ranked in the top-15 nationally.
Off the mat, Canova is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the Social Studies Honor Society.
At Bergen Catholic, he was also given the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award.

Tyler Conroy | 157 | West Chester, PA | Malvern Prep
Joining the Tigers from West Chester, Penn., Tyler Conroy is a two-time Escape the Rock Champion and a Beast of the East Finalist.
Conroy finished his high school career with a final ranking of fifth at 138 pounds. He was a three-time place-winner at Escape the Rock, a two-time place-winner at Ironman and Beast of the East, and a finalist and three-time All-American at National Prep. He was also an NHSCA All-American.
Joining Princeton at 157, Conroy was ranked 42nd overall in the Class of 2026.
Coming from an athletic family, Conroy’s mother played lacrosse and field hockey at the University of Virginia. He has three sisters.

Conor Delaney | 197 | Rumson, NJ | Rumson Fair Haven Regional
Rumson native Conor Delaney will stay in his home state to join the Tigers at 197 this Fall.
His strong high school career at Rumson Fair Haven Regional saw Delaney take third at Beast of the East and fifth at Super 32.
He was also a two-time NHSCA All-American.
Off the mat, Delaney was a member of the National Honor Society.

George Dennis | 149/157 | Cynthiana, KY | Harrison County
A three-time Kentucky State Champion, George Dennis (149-157 lbs) comes to Princeton this fall from Cynthiana, Kentucky.
In addition to his three state titles, Dennis made the state finals all four years in high school. He was also an NHSCA Junior National Finalist.
The Valedictorian of his class at Harrison County, Dennis was also the senior class president, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and the vice president of the Beta Club.
In his spare time, Dennis also works as a professional dog trainer.

Mark Effendian | 285 | Philadelphia, PA | Faith Christian Academy
Ironman Champion Mark Effendian joins the Tigers after an illustrious high school career that saw the heavyweight make 100 pins and go undefeated his senior year, 46-0.
The Pennsylvania State Champion was also a two-time finalist and three-time placer at the state level. He was a two-time finalist and three-time placer at Ironman, and he took third at Super 32. Effendian was also a Doc B Champion.
Off the mat, Effendian graduated summa cum laude from Faith Christian Academy, where he was also a member of the honor society.

Joseph Joyce | 149 | Gloucester, RI | Ponaganset
Joseph Joyce comes to Princeton from Gloucester, R.I., where the 149-pounder was a three-time state champion and a two-time New England Champion.
He was also a Super 32 All-American, and he took third place at Escape the Rock.
Off the mat, Joyce was a Unified Sports Athlete/Coach. Pursuing plans to be a Catholic priest, Joyce also volunteered with the Rhode Island Catholic Diocesan and served as an International Justice Mission lobbyist.
Coming from an Ivy League wrestling family, two of his brothers, Michael and Jacob, wrestled at Brown and recently graduated.
