PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's swimming and diving team defeated Army on Saturday afternoon at DeNunzio pool, 187-111. The Tigers won 12 of 16 events and took the top three places in the 100 backstroke, the 50 freestyle, the 200 back, the 500 free and the 400 individual medley.
The relay team of Jamie Leahy, Garth Fealy, Craig Wales and Jesse Gage won the 200 medley with a time of one minute 32.68 seconds. The team of Chris Gratian, Leahy, Gage and Mike Salerno took the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.95).
Wales also won 100 fly (4:31.15) and Kevin Volz won the 1,000 back (9:13.64) and the 500 free (4:31.15). Carl Hessler won the 200 butterfly (1:52.30) and freshman Juan Valdivieso won the 400 individual medley (4:02.57). Freshman Michael Sullivan won the three-meter diving (299.70) while Eric Carty-Fickes placed second (279.30) in the one-meter diving for Princeton.
Princeton is now 4-0 overall, 3-0 in the Ivy League. The Tigers will return to action Jan. 5, 2001 at Rutgers.
