Tigers Drop Second Straight

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Sophomore pitcher Chris Higgins (Tulsa, Okla.) made his first career start on the for the Tigers. Princeton fell to the Virginia Cavaliers 5-2. Princeton falls to 2-4 on the season and Virginia moves to 11-10-1.
After the two teams exchanged runs in the first inning, Virginia opened the game with two unearned runs in the bottom of the second.
Princeton had a chance to tie the game in the top of the fourth inning. Sean McNally (Jr., Jersey City, N.J.) singled and Tim Phillips (Jr., Audubon, Pa.) doubled to put men on second and third with two outs. Jon Watterson (Jr., Keene, N.H.) struck out looking to end the threat. Virginia would add two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Princeton scored another run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI double by Casey Hildreth (Jr., Westfield, Mass.) to score Pat Boran (So., Pottsville, Pa.).
Higgins threw an effective game, going seven and two thirds innings giving up nine hits and five runs, three of which were earned. He struck out two and walked only one. Hildreth was 2 for 4 with an RBI double.
