Tigers Finish Second at Easterns for Fifth Straight Year

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton men's swimming team ended the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League Championship just as it started it, in second place behind Harvard. The Crimson went wire-to-wire in first place for their fifth consecutive championship with 1468 points. Princeton was second with 1233.50 points and Yale was third with 1141.5 points. Either Princeton or Harvard has won the championship every year since 1973.
The Tigers earned championships this evening in the 200 breast. Matt Harrigan won the event with an NCAA B-Cut qualifying and an Olympic qualifying time of 2:01.66. The Princeton 400 free relay team of Jesse Gage, Dan Russell, Nathan Rebuck and Jamie Holder won in a time of 2:59.16.
Andy Shyong was second in the three-meter diving competition with a total of 514.75 points and Carl Hessler was third in the 200 fly.
In all, Princeton had four winners in the championships.
