Men's Golf Struggles Out Of Gate In West Regional

MADERA, Calif. - The Princeton University men's golf team struggled on the opening day of the NCAA West Regional at Riverbend Golf Course, placing 25th of 27 teams. The Tigers shot a 315 as a team, 27 strokes over par. Brigham Young is the current leader with a 276, 12 under par. The top nine team will qualify for the NCAA championship meet, and the current team in ninth place, UCLA, is 28 strokes in front of Princeton.
Judd Pritchard led the Tigers with a 75 (37-38), putting him in a tie for 78th place in the individual race for a Regional title. Nat Hoopes is tied for 114th with a 79 (39-40) while Peter McWhorter is just behind him with a 119 (42-38). Cassidy Traub shot an 81 (41-40) to round out the team score. Princeton's non-counter was James Milam, who struggled on the front nine but shot a strong back nine to finish with an 82 (43-39).
Princeton will play the second of three rounds today.
