PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team will make its return to NCAA play this weekend at the University of Houston. The Tigers are the fourth seed in the four-team region and will face the host Cougars on Friday night at a time to be determined. The other two teams in the Region are Rice University and Texas Tech.
"Houston is a talented team with a couple of really good pitchers," Tiger head coach Scott Bradley said following the announcement. "When you get to this point in the season, all the teams are talented. It is good for our kids to be able to play in an atmosphere like that. Houston has a top-notch facility and is a great place for us to go."
The Tigers have a 24-18 record and are the Ivy League champions for the first time since 1996. Princeton has an overall record of 1-9 in Regional play. Princeton's only win came in 1965 when it defeated Rider 4-3 in the District II bracket.
Houston owns a 44-15 record and received an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the Conference USA tournament in 10 innings over Cincinnati. Rice has a 40-21 record and was ranked 25th in the May 15 Collegiate Baseball Poll. Texas Tech enters the tournament with a 35-24 record.
