PRINCETON, N.J. - The goal by senior Amee Reyes in the second half of the women's soccer game against Dartmouth on Saturday helped spoil the Big Green's Ivy opener and keep the Tigers winning streak in tact.
Reyes was persistent in the box as she scored nine minutes into the second half to give Princeton the 1-0 win and keep the Tigers undefeated five games into the season. Princeton is now 2-0 in league play. This is only the second time in 10 years that Princeton has defeated Dartmouth.
"The plan all along was to put pressure on their backs," said Reyes. "When they made a mistake I saw it and was able to score. We knew this was going to be a tough game. They are a solid team and they out size most of our players so we knew it was going to be a lot of work. We just took our chances."
Senior goalkeeper Jordan Rettig made two saves and the Tiger defense recorded their fifth consecutive shout out. Dartmouth took six shots to Princeton's 11.
The Tigers up their record to 5-0 (2-0 Ivy) and will face Rutgers at home on Lourie-Love Field on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
