Tigers Come Up Short In Ivy Opener

ITHACA, N.Y. - Despite 23 points from sophomore Maureen Lane, the Princeton women's basketball team came up short losing 77-61 to Cornell Friday night in their Ivy League season opener.
The Tigers shot only 31% from the field (8-26) in the first half and 31% (4-13) from behind the three-point arc. Princeton was near perfect from the line hitting eight out of nine free throws. The Big Red shot 48% from the field (15-31), 67% (6-9) from the arc and 67% (4-6) from the free throw line in the first. Lane had 11 points in the first half for the Tigers.
Princeton (0-13, 0-1 Ivy) down 40-28 at the half, stepped up their shooting in the second half. The Tigers shot 43% (13-30) and scored 33 points. The Big Red (7-6, 1-0 Ivy) wouldn't let Princeton get close as they topped the Tigers with 37 points of their own. Do Stevens led Cornell with 15 points.
Lee Culp led Princeton with seven rebounds while Lauren Rigney had a team high four assists.
Princeton travels to Columbia tomorrow night for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
