Princeton, N.J. - The Men's Water Polo (17-5) team was looking forward to capping their run through the Eastern Championships with two wins in a row and a fifth place finish. But they came out flat in the first quarter and eventually fell to Navy 9-6. After the Midshipmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Princeton upped its tempo and the game was balanced for 3 quarters with both teams scoring six goals.
Massachusetts, the Tiger's first round opponent, won the tournament with a 8-4 win over Queens. In the third place game, Harvard defeated St. Francis 7-6. Princeton was one of the favorites for the title entering the tournament with a 16-3 record, but the Tigers had the tough draw of Massachusetts, the other favorite, in the first round.
