Massachusetts Captures Eastern Championship, Princeton Finishes Sixth

PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Massachusetts, led by tournament MVP Greg Trayer, captured the title at the Eastern Championships with an 8-4 win over Queens on Sunday afternoon to advance to the NCAA Championships. Only four teams in the country earn a berth in the NCAA tournament.
Harvard defeated St. Francis to capture third place. Navy handed Princeton a 9-6 loss in the fifth-place game and Bucknell defeated Johns Hopkins, 9-7, to take seventh place.
The Midshipmen jumped out to a 4-0 lead and coasted to a 9-5 win over the Tigers. Senior Marshall Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa.) led Orange and Black with three goals. Juniors Kevin Foster (Davis, Calif.) and Robert Urquhart (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and sophomore Dan McKenna (Wyndmoor, Pa.) each added a goal. Senior co-captain Jon Pharris (Newport Beach, Calif.) posted seven saves in three quarters of action in goal. Freshman Peter Sabbatini (Annapolis, Md.) had three saves in the fourth quarter.
