Men's Tennis Team Competes At Prestigious Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships

Farmers Branch, Texas - Portlock (Wilton, Conn.) and Kliegerman (New York, N.Y.) won their first-round match in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (4) over UNLV's pair of Gregor Skorkin and Nenad Zivkovic. The Tigers were forced to win both of their games in tie-breakers, and move on to face a Stanford team that knocked off the No. 1-ranked team of Brian Vahaly and Huntley Montgomery from Virginia. Portlock and Kliegerman lost to Vahaly and Montgomery in the Farnsworth Invitational at Jadwin Gym last weekend. The quarterfinal match was scheduled to start late this evening, however, due to the backed up play at the tournament, the match has not been played yet.
Only the 32 finest players in the country are invited to this tournament, which is part of the ITA Grand Slam. Consolation matches in both the doubles and singles have been delayed until Friday, because of numerous delays in the first day of competition.
