STILLWATER, Okla. - Andrew Hanson hit a home run in the first inning for Princeton but Oklahoma State did one better by hitting two homers in the second inning. And that was just the beginning for the Cowboys who hit five home runs in the game and pounded out 27 hits to defeat the Tigers 28-2 on Saturday.
After allowing two hits in the first inning, Princeton's starting pitcher Brian Biegen (0-1) allowed 13 runs, including the two home runs in the second, on 11 hits over 2.2 innings pitched.
Nick Pappas relieved Biegen with one out to go in the third but faced seven batters before freshman Thomas Pauly entered the game for Princeton in the fourth. Jose Virgil reached on a fielder's choice and Pauly walked Zach Cates before giving up a three-run home run to Rob Watson, his second of the game and the first of three homers in an inning that saw the Cowboys bat around for the second time in the game. Watson went 4 for 5 in the game with six RBIs. Fourteen different batters scored for OSU.
Max Krance singled in Hanson who led off the fourth inning with a triple for Princeton's only other run in the game.
Princeton will play it final game of the series with Oklahoma State on Sunday, March 11 at 12:30 p.m.
