Duke Takes Final Baseball Game In the Series From Princeton 8-7

DURHAM, N.C. - Pat Boran's two-out three-run homer sparked a ninth inning rally for Princeton but the Tigers fell short losing the third game of three-game series to Duke 8-7 on Saturday.
Princeton (4-10) led 4-1 until the sixth inning. Drew Jerden, David Mason and Wes Goodner all had RBIs for Duke to tie the game 4-4. Jerdan took the mound to pitch the top of the eighth inning, then reached on a base hit and was one of four Blue Devils to score to give Duke the 8-4 lead in the bottom of the inning. Boran's first home run of the season brought the Tigers with in one run. Andrew Hanson flew out to leftfield for the final out.
Princeton got on the board in the second inning scoring three runs on four hits. Mickey Martin scored Max Krance on a sacrifice fly to right field. Ryan Achterberg doubled in Voelker and Jon Watterson singled in Eric Voelker for a 3-0 Princeton lead.
Wes Goodner led of with a home run in the third inning for Duke. Watterson's sacrifice fly scored Martin who reached on a base hit for another Princeton run in the fourth inning.
Jerdan earned the win (1-1) giving up four runs on three hits striking out two in 1.2 innings pitched. Bill Broome (0-2) gave up four runs on five hits in 1.0 inning pitched for the loss.
Princeton will play its final two games of the road trip against Delaware on Sunday, March 25. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m.
