PRINCETON, N.J. -
Princeton, N.J.-- The men's tennis team defeated the Owls of Temple, this afternoon 7-0. The match was held in the tennis facility inside of Jadwin Gym. With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-7 on the season. Today's contest follows a tough match against Loyola Marymount that the Tigers won 4-3. The match schedule for March 27 against St. John's was cancelled because St. John's was unable to field a team.
Perhaps the most important aspect of this afternoon's match, was the return of senior John Portlock into the lineup. Portlock, who has not competed in a singles match since early November, has been sideline with an injury. This afternoon Portlock, playing in the 3 singles spot, defeated Jensen Bascome 6-3, 6-0. Kyle Kliegerman teamed up with Portlock for the number 1 doubles team and defeated Krishane Pillay and Jordon Huffer 8-3.
Kliegerman, who has been a dominating force on the Tiger team, defeated Pillay in the number 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2. Judson Williams, who has moved into the number 2 singles position, defeated Huffer 6-3, 6-2.
Princeton will enter league play, beginning next week, when they travel to Brown and Yale, April 6 and 7 at 2 and 12:30 p.m. The Tigers return to Princeton April 13 to face Dartmouth.
