Philadelphia - The 2000-01 women's basketball season might have been a tough one. Say this about the Tigers, however. They fought hard through the final night of the year.
Princeton came close to finishing the season with a major upset, scaring league champion Pennsylvania before falling short 78-69 at the Palestra.
Princeton finishes the season at 2-25 overall and 2-12 in the Ivy League. Penn improved to 22-5, 14-0 in the Ivy League, and extended the nation's longest winning streak to 21.
Princeton led 24-14 in the first half and 37-30 at intermission. Penn finally took the lead at 59-58 with eight minutes remaining, but Allison Cahill answered with a three-pointer to put Princeton back on top at 61-59.
Penn took over from there, going on a 14-2 run to build a 73-63 lead.
Maureen Lane led Princeton with 20 points, while Cahill had 16. Jessica Munson, the lone senior on the team, had 14 in her final college game, while Lee Culp had 10.
Penn All-America Diana Caramanico had 26 points and eight rebounds, while Erin Ladley had 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Princeton shot 11 for 29 from three-point range.
