Tigers Split Baseball Games With Bears, 3-2 and 10-7

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ryan Quillian (3-1) pitched a complete seven-inning game and earned his third win of the season in Princeton's 3-2 victory over Brown in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday. The Bears (5-10, 2-0) pounded out 18 hits in the 10-7 win over the Tigers (6-15, 2-2) in game two. Princeton went 2-2 in the first weekend of Ivy League play splitting a doubleheader with Yale on Saturday.
Quillian didn't give up a run until the end of game one. The sophomore allowed two runs to score in the top of the seventh after two batters reached on base hits. With a runner at first after giving up only his sixth hit of the game, Quillian struck out pinch hitter John Capello, his fourth strikeout of the afternoon, to end the inning and the game.
Mickey Martin scored the Tigers' first run on a lead off base hit in the bottom of the second inning. Tim Phillips doubled Martin to third and scored when Jon Watterson grounded out to the short stop. Max Krance doubled to lead off the sixth inning and scored when Martin reached for on an error by centerfielder Todd Iarrusi. Sean McNally scored Martin with a base hit. McNally was 2-for-3 with an RBI in game one. The Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead on four straight base hits to open game two. Princeton responded with four runs in the bottom of the first. Watterson reached on an error to lead off the inning and was doubled to third base by Pat Boran. Krance followed with a two-RBI double. Casey Hildreth doubled and was scored on a base hit by Martin for a 4-3 Princeton lead.
The Bears scattered 13 hits and scored seven runs over the next eight innings. Princeton put three more runs on the board, two in the sixth and one in the bottom of the ninth. The Tigers had 13 hits in the game.
Tom Rowland took the loss in game two dropping to 0-3 on the season. Rowland gave up six runs on 11 hits in 3.1 innings pitched.
Princeton will face Rider on Wednesday, Apr. 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Clarke Field.
