PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton baseball (19-19, 13-5) won its sixth cosecutive Gehrig Division title with a sweep of Cornell, 5-1 and 20-17 on Friday afternoon. The crowd at Clark Field witnessed a slugfest as nine home runs cleared the fences in two games. Andrew Hanson had a home run in each game for Princeton and Flint Foley had two in the second game for Cornell (10-22, 6-11). Hanson ignited a nine-run sixth inning in the second game and was the first of three Tigers to homer in the inning. Game one starter Ryan Quillian (6-2) had another solid outing, pitching his fifth complete game and matching his career- and season-high of nine strike outs in the first Princeton victory of the afternoon. The Tigers were trailing 7-6 until Hanson's three-run shot cleared the right field fence. Then Mickey Martin and Eric Voelker stepped up and hit back-to-back home runs, the second of the year for each. Martin smashed a three-run shot to center field, the second of the inning, before Voelker sent one deep to center. Princeton scored seven runs before an out was recorded and ended the inning with a 15-7 lead. And that was just the sixth inning.

Although Princeton held a 20-10 lead in the seventh inning, Cornell still had some hitting to do. The Big Red fired back with a seven-run inning of their own, including a three-run home run by Andrew Luria and the second dinger for Foley. Tom Rowland, the last of six Princeton pitchers to take the mound, closed the game and earned his first save of the season with one strike out and no runs with one hit. Hanson was 1 for 3 with five RBIs, Martin was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Voelker was 2 for 4 with four RBIs.
Quillian allowed one run on five hits in 7.0 innings for his team-leading sixth win of the season. Quillian's run was a home run to Tom Gifford in the third inning. It was only the second home run Quillian has surrendered this season. He sat down the side in the side five times in the game.
Hanson hit his fifth home run of the year in the first inning of game one giving the Tigers an early 2-0 lead. Hanson's two-run blast cleared the center field wall, scoring Jon Watterson who led off with a double down the left field line.
Pat Boran had a two-run double in the second inning scoring Eric Fitzgerald who reached on a walk and Watterson who reached on an error by Cornell second baseman John Mills. Hanson drove in Boran with a base hit to put the Tigers up 5-0.
