Tigers Take A Pair From Dartmouth, 1-0 and 9-6

HAMDON, Conn. - Ryan Quillian (4-1) pitched a three-hit shutout game in Princeton's 1-0 win over Dartmouth in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Tigers (9-15, 4-2) won the second game 9-6 giving Tom Rowland (1-3) his first win of the season.
Quillian pitched his second complete seven-inning game of the season scattering three hits and striking out nine. Dartmouth (6-11, 2-4) starter Lawrence Fey also went the distance giving up one run on four hits with seven strikouts.
Eric Voelker scored the winning run for Princeton in the top of the fifth inning. Voelker reach on a lead off walk and advanced to second on a Mickey Martin ground out. Freshman Eric Fitzgerald doubled in Voelker for the Tigers' only run of the game. Princeton had two home runs in game two. Mickey Martin hit his first home run of the season and Andrew Hanson hit his second. Martin hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to give Princeton a 4-1 lead. Martin went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in the game.
Dartmouth scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning gaining a one run advantage. Both teams had a scoreless eightht inning. Hanson's only hit of the day was a three-run blast in the ninth inning scoring Tim Phillips and Pat Boran who had reached on base hits. Voelker doubled in Max Krance and advanced Casey Hildreth to third who scored when Sean McNally popped up to the first baseman.
Tom Rowland pitched in relief for Princeton starter Nathan Miller. Miller struck out two giving up four runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings pitched. Rowland gave up one run on two hits in 1.1 innings pitched. Bill Broome struck out one and allowed one run on two hits pitching the bottom of the ninth.
Princeton will play a doubleheader with Harvard on Sunday, Apr. 8 with the first game starting at 12:00 p.m.
