PRINCETON, N.J. - Ryan Quillian (So., Atlanta, Ga.) was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year while earning first-team All-Ivy honors for the 2001 baseball season. First baseman Andrew Hanson (Sr., Cumberland, Maine), shortstop Pat Boran (Jr., Pottsville, Pa.) and outfielders Max Krance (Sr., Nyack, N.Y.) and Mickey Martin (Sr., Bridgewater, N.J.) were named to the second-team.
Quillian is the first Tiger to win the award in its 24-year history. Quillian was 6-3 overall with a 3.56 ERA. In Ivy games he led the league with a 1.30 ERA and had a 4-1 record. He was fifth in the league with 56 strikeouts during the regular season.
Hanson tied for first in league games with 22 RBIs and was second with five home runs. He led the Tigers with 42 RBIs and had seven home runs during the regular season. Boran led the Ivies with nine doubles in league games. He was third in the league and led the Tigers with 14 doubles during the regular season. Boran also ranked third with 42 runs scored and stolen bases (16 stolen out of 18 attempts).
Krance led the Tigers and ranked 15th in the league with a .335 batting average. He ranked 12th in league games batting .361.
Martin had the ninth best batting average in league games (.371) and was third with three triples. Martin and Hanson tied for fourth in the league with four triples during the regular season.
In league games, Princeton had the second lowest team ERA (4.40) and second best team fielding percentage (.980). Princeton's .283 team batting average ranked seventh.
Overall, the Tigers had the second best team fielding percentage (.960) and were seventh in team pitching (6.25 ERA). Princeton had the fifth highest team batting average (.284).
Princeton won its second consecutive Ivy League championship on May 6 and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. First-round regional pairings will be announced on Monday, May 21, at 3 p.m. EST during a live, half-hour program on ESPN.
