Women's Crew Places Fifth at NCAA Championships

Gainesville, Ga - - Princeton's women's varsity eight open crew team finished fifth with a time of 7:10.12 in the Grand Final at the 2001 NCAA Championships at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga. Princeton was less than a second behind Washington as the two teams lead after the first 500 meters. The Tigers dropped to third place at the 1,000 meter mark and fell back to fifth place over the next 500 meters, eventually losing by more than six seconds to a winning Washington crew.
The Tigers placed sixth at the championships last year.
