Princeton To Host Penn In Football Scrimmage Sept. 4

Princeton's football team, in a radical departure from recent years, will have its annual preseason scrimmage against Ivy League-rival Pennsylvania Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Princeton Stadium.
The event will be free and open to the public.
The scrimmage will begin with individual drills at 2 and continue with the team scrimmage at 3. It is expected to last three quarters.
Princeton has traditionally scrimmaged a Division III team in the preseason. The Tigers' opponent the last few years, Rowan, had a schedule change that made a scrimmage this year impossible, and Princeton picked up Penn when the Quaker's traditional scrimmage opponent, Millersville, also backed out.
Scrimmages between Ivy League schools are not unprecedented. In fact, Princeton head coach Roger Hughes' Dartmouth teams often scrimmaged Columbia during his tenure as offensive coordinator for the Big Green.
Princeton opens its season at home against Lafayette Sept. 15 with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
