The Tigers opened the day against sixth-ranked Stanford, and suffered a narrow 23-15 defeat. Juan Venturi (Houston, TX) earned a 6-5 decision over Brad Metzler at 141 lbs. Greg Parker (Clifton Park, N.Y.), ranked sixth in the nation in his weight class, continued to dominate his opponents, recording a 10-0 win over Imad Kharbush at 171. Matt Fisher (Pompton Lakes, NJ) and Joe Looke (Houston, TX) picked up victories at 197 and 285 lbs. respectively but it was not enough as the Orange and Black lost 23-15.
A 5-3 Milo Adams (Mentor, OH) win and a Parker tech fall were the only points Princeton could put on the board against top-ranked Nebraska as the Cornhuskers cruised to a 42-8 win.
There was no break for the Orange and Black as No. 2 Oklahoma was waiting in the wings. The Sooners handed Princeton a 46-3 loss.
Princeton closed the day with a match against No. 6 Cal Poly. Adams put the Tigers on the board with an 8-5 win over Matt Cox at 149 lbs. Parker earned an 8-6 decision over No. 11 Steve Strange at 174 and Princeton picked up another three points at 184 lbs. Looke posted a 5-1 win over Clint Walbeck at 285 to close the day for the Tigers.
Princeton returns to the mat on Friday, Jan. 11 with a 7 p.m. match at Lehigh. The Tigers return home to host Columbia and Cornell on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Feb. 1. Those matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively.
