Box Score
Baltimore, Md. - Senior tri-captain Bob Nye scored with seven minutes remaining in regulation, tying a game that would eventually end in a 1-1 tie. Sophomore goalkeeper Erik White registered three saves and was helped by two team clears as Princeton and Loyola battled to a 110-minutes draw on a cool Tuesday night in Baltimore, Md.
After a scoreless first half that was about as even as it gets, the Greyhounds reached the scoreboard with Kevin Nash's first goal of the season. Loyola led 1-0 at the 70-minute mark, but Princeton would answer when Adrian Melville headed a pass off Marty Shaw's corner kick and Nye was there to score his second career goal.
Nye's first goal came in the season opener with Fairleigh Dickinson, another game that ended in a tie. Tonight's tie is the third straight between Princeton and Loyola. Last season the teams ended in a scoreless tie and in 2000, the Tigers and Greyhounds played to a 1-1 draw.
White, who started his fifth game in goal, records his first career tie. It is the third tie of the year for Princeton, which moves to 2-6-3. Loyola is 4-4-2 after playing in its second consecutive tie.
Princeton returns to Lourie-Love Field for a three-game home-stand starting Friday night, Oct. 18. The Tigers play Brown at 7:30 p.m.
