Tigers Drop First Of Three English Exhibition Games
December 15, 2002 | Men's Ice Hockey
The game was dubbed the "The International Challenge Match between GMB Panthers and Princeton Tigers." The Panthers play in the highest professional league in England and boast four former NHLers on their roster.
Princeton opened the scoring just 1:04 into the game on a Dustin Sproat tally. GMB came right back with the tying goal at 36 seconds later. Neil Stevenson-Moore then scored a second Tiger goal at 9:17 of the period, but GMB again answered within a minute at 9:55 to even the score up at two. GMB then scored two more goals at 13:11 and 14:34 in the first period to take a 4-2 lead to the lockerrooms.
Following a scoreless second period, GMB scored the final goal 2:54 into the third period. The third period was highlighted by a number of great saves by Eric Leroux. Each save brought the crowd to their feet. The crowd was very generous, acknowledging Princeton's great play.
Leroux was named most outstanding player for Princeton, playing the entire game and making 36 saves.

The First Four Days in England
Our Hotel is located in the city of Guildford, about 30 minutes southwest of London. Then we landed on Saturday, we went into London for a short while. On the way up to the game Sunday, we stopped at Warwick Castle for a tour. On Monday, we visited Stonehenge in the afternoon and then stopped in the town of Salisbury in the evening. There is a church in Salisbury that dates back to the 11th Century. It contains one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta (1215). On Tuesday, we went into London again for a tour of the Tower of London.
This evening (Wednesday), the team is competing against the Guildford Flames. Tomorrow, they will be travelling to Cardiff to compete against the Cardiff Devils. The next two games should be more competitive as the two teams are in the league below that of the GMB Panthers.
