Dec. 20, 2002
Senior Greg Parker returned to his winning ways Thursday at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Parker, a defending NCAA finalist and the top-seed in his weight class, won all four of his matches to claim the title. In all, 11 Princeton wrestler competed at the event with the team finishing 15th of the 22 teams entered.
Parker, who returned to the mat last weekend at Missouri and entered this weekend 1-1 on the season, received a first-round bye and then faced Bryan Webster of Cal.-Fullerton in the second-round and shut him out 15-0. Parker followed up that win with two more shutouts, first over Duke's Tom Cass 16-0 and then over Boise's Tony D'Amico 10-0. That win set up a final match against Oklahoma State's Jake Rosholt, which Parker claimed by a score of 10-2.
At 125 pounds, Princeton's Seth Dunipace went 1-2 and Kenneth Chu was 0-2. At 133 Brian Kirschbaum went 2-2 and John Knorring and Joe Clarke went 0-2 and 2-2 respectively, at 141. Matthew Piselli was 0-2 at 149 while Milo Adams was 1-2 at 157. Princeton had two wrestlers at 174, with Jack Fleming posting an 0-2 record and Andrew Avsec going 1-2. Matt Fisher and Matt Hawrilenko each went 1-2 at 197 and Heavyweight, respectively.
