Tigers Swim Past Competition, Lead Invitational After Day Two

Princeton, N.J. - Both the men's and women's swim teams extended their leads at the 2002 Princeton Swimming and Diving Invitational today with several more wins and plenty of team points. The Tigers have combined for 1,708 school points after two days as both the men and women hold onto comfortable margins heading into tomorrow's events.
The men won two relay events, capturing the 200-yard medley behind seniors Pat Donahue, Garth Fealey, Jesse Gage and junior Mike Salerno. They also won the 800-yard freestyle relay as sophomores Jeremy Tillman, Justin Chiles, junior Jeff Yellin and senior Carl Hessler teamed up to swim a 6:44.02.
Sophomore Stephanie Hsiao paced the women's team with a win in the 100-yard breastroke (1:04.84). Freshman Whitney Ryan finished second in the 400-yard IM as Kristy Wilson and Maggie Littlefield finished 2-3 on the 1-meter diving board.
The Tigers faired well on the board with Ken DeMond, Michael Sullivan and Nick Lee coming back from yesterday's 1-2-3 win in the 1-meter to place 2-3-4 in today's 3-meter competition. Princeton also took the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly with Gage winning in 49.75. Juan Valdivieso took second and John Stover finished third.
The Princeton Invitational concludes on Sunday, Dec. 8 at DeNunzio Pool with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
