Second-Half Surge Lifts Dartmouth Over Princeton Women

Hanover, N.H. - Dartmouth's Katherine Hanks scored a career-high 34 points and Dartmouth posted 53 second-half points as the Big Green down Princeton 76-57 in Hanover, N.H. on Friday night. The loss drops the Tigers to 8-13 overall and extends thier losing streak to seven games.
Princeton led early, going up 9-0 to start the game. Five three-point baskets in the first 10 minutes of play, including two from Freshman Karen Bolster, gave Princeton a 23-10 lead halfway through the first period. Free throws, however, kept Dartmoouth close and Hanks made the difference.
Dartmouth made 7 of 11 first half foul shots while Princeton only attempted two shots from the charity stripe. Princeton had five threes while Dartmouth missed all five of it first half three-point attempts and Princeton led 34-23 at the intermission. The Big Green caught fire in the second half and started the period on a 7-0 run. Hanks scored seven straight Dartmouth points that culminated in the Big Green's first lead, 48-47. It was a lead they would not relinquish.
Dartmouth shot 70 percent from the field in the second half and connected on all three of its three-point attempts in the period. Hanks made 14 of 20 shots and was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Kelly Schaeffer led the Princeton attack with 15 points, Bolster finished with 12. Sophomore Maureen McCracken registered a career-high eight points while Maureen Lane added eight of her own.
The Tiger, now 2-6 in the Ivy League, head to first-place Harvard for a Saturday night showdown. The Crimson have won seven straigh since losing to Princeon on Jan. 11. Princeton has not won since its defeat of Harvard that night. Saturday's game time is 6 p.m.
