Women's Water Polo Opens Season with Crushing Victories at the Princeton Invitational

Princeton, N.J. - The women's water polo team opens its season with two victories at the Princeton Invitational. Princeton defeated Bucknell 15-2 in the first game of the season and Harvard 10-3 later in the day. Adele McCarthy-Beauvais, the Tigers All- America leading scoring from last season, picked up from where she left off scoring nine goals against Bucknell and Ivy rival Harvard.
Princeton dominated Bucknell jumping out to an 8-1 lead by half time. McCarthy Beauvais scored three of her six goals in the second quarter. Two freshmen, Kelly Melia-Teevan and Kathryn Parolin scored their first collegiate goals in the match. Team captain, Cassie Nichols registered the first two Tiger goals of the season.
McCarthy-Beauvais and Nichols had three goals apiece as the Tigers rolled over Harvard 10-3 in the second game of the day. Freshmen Melia-Teevan had two goals and Mariah Zebrowski had one.
Princeton will face Indiana at 11:00 a.m. and Slippery Rock at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in the final day of the tournament.
