No. 13 Women's Water Polo Advances To CWPA Championship with 9-8 Takedown of No. 11 Michigan

ANN ARBOR – The No. 13 Princeton Women's Water Polo Team took down the No. 11 Michigan Wolverines, 9-8, at the Canham Natatorium on Saturday afternoon in the CWPA Semifinal.
With the victory, the Tigers advanced to the CWPA Championship for the fourth consecutive year, winning twice in 2023 and 2024. Head coach Derek Ellingson's crew will take on the No. 1 seeded Harvard Crimson for the second straight season.
Michigan opened the scoring before Princeton countered with two tallies from Shanna Davidson. The two CWPA foes exchanged goals the rest of the quarter, leaving the contest tied at three after eight minutes.
Goals from Didi Evans and Ava Houlahan gave the Tigers a two-goal lead in the second stanza before settling with a 5-4 advantage at halftime.
Princeton would go up two in the third quarter, but Michigan got within a tally as the final frame began.
Goals from Davidson and Houlahan pushed the Tigers to a three-goal lead, but Michigan responded with two tallies within a minute. Lindsey Lucas recorded several saves over the last five minutes before this field block on Michigan's final possession secured the Tigers' spot in the championship contest.
