Princeton, N.J. - Adele McCarthy-Beauvais and Cassie Nichols each tallied four goals apiece as the Tigers defeated Indiana 11-10 in the third match of the Princeton Invitational. The Tigers defeated Slippery Rock in their final match of the day 12-3. Princeton moves to 4-0 on the season.
Indiana went into the fourth quarter with a 9-8 lead and quickly added another goal with 1:42 ticked off the clock to distance themselves from the Tigers by two. Princeton's Jenny Edwards scored her only goal of the match 22 seconds later to bring the Tigers to within one. Nichols netted her fourth goal of the match with 3:49 remaining to even the score at 10-10. McCarthy-Beauvais fourth goal of the game came with 2:28 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Hoosiers were unable to answer. Princeton held onto the slim margin and earned the win.
The Tigers spread the scoring around in the second match of the day. McCarthy-Beauvais had three goals. Both Melida Martin and Kelly Melia-Teevan scored twice. Edwards, Joanna Armstrong, Courtney Welsh, Mariah Zebrowski, and Kathryn Parolin each had one goal.
Princeton will return to action when they host the Wildcats of Villanova on February 28 at 8:00 p.m. at DeNunzio Pool.
