Princeton, N.J. - Adele McCarthy-Beauvais scored seven goals as the Tigers dismantled the Wildcats of Villanova 13-5 in tonight's women's water polo match-up. The Tigers improve to 5-0 on the season while the Wildcats fall to 0-4. McCarthy-Beauvais, who was a second-team All America last season, has scored 21 goals in this season's five games.
Villanova opened a 2-1 lead in the first quarter yet the Tigers evened the score at 2-2 with 2:40 remaining in the period. McCarthy-Beauvais' third goal of the evening came with 2:07 remaining in the opening quarter to put the Tigers up by one.
The Wildcats pulled even with 1:50 ticked of the second quarter clock when they scored on a penalty shot. Senior captain, Cassie Nichols gave Princeton the 4-3 lead with 3:50 remaining in the second quarter, the Tigers would not loss the lead again this evening. Nichols finished the match tallying two goals. At one point Princeton opened up a 13-3 lead.
Courtney Welsh, Mariah Zebrowski, Julie Miller and Kelly Melia-Teevan each added one goal apiece. Freshman Madeline McCarthy made the start in goal for the Tigers. Sophomore, Lauren Lister also saw some action in front of the net for Princeton.
The Tigers will participate in the Brown Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3.
