Let The Games Begin - This weekend's four-game series represents the Ivy League opener for both Penn and Princeton.
A Look Back - Princeton won its sixth-straight Gehrig Division title in 2001 with a 14-6 record. The Tigers defeated Rolfe Division winner Dartmouth in a three-game series to advance to the NCAA tournament. Princeton closed out the season with a 23-25 record.
Last Meeting - The Tigers took three out of four games against the Quakers last season. Penn won the first game 2-1, but Princeton picked up 6-4, 8-2 and 8-7 victories to close out the series.
Century Club - Princeton's 14-5 win at William & Mary on March 23 gave Tiger head coach Scott Bradley his 100th career win. In his first four seasons at Princeton, Bradley led the Tigers to a 97-79 mark, four Gehrig Division titles, two Ivy League championships and two NCAA tournament appearances.
Road Trip - Princeton went 3-8 on its spring trip with games against Duke, North Carolina, Elon and William & Mary. The Tigers opened the trip with a 11-9 win over Duke, but lost their next eight games. Princeton broke out of that losing streak with a 14-5 win at William & Mary and kept it going with a 8-2 win over the Tribe the following day to earn a split in the four-game series.
The Reich Stuff - Ryan Reich went 15-for-41 on Princeton's spring trip. He has hit safely in his last six games, and eight of his last nine. Reich was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs scored in the 14-5 win over William & Mary. That performance included a two-run double in the fourth inning. He is hitting .327 for the season on 18-for-55 hitting with 10 RBIs. Closing Time - Thomas Pauly picked up the save in two of Princeton's three wins on its spring trip. He earned his first save by pitching the ninth inning, striking out two and giving up no hits in the 11-9 win over Duke. Pauly pitched the last three innings of the 8-2 win over William & Mary, allowing just four hits, no earned runs and three strikeouts. Pauly has pitched 8.2 innings in six appearances and allowed just seven hits, 11 strikeouts and no earned runs.
Fresh Face - Freshman hurler Ross Ohlendorf pitched six innings in the 8-2 win over William & Mary, scattering five hits and giving up no earned runs. In his other appearance of the spring trip, Ohlendorf pitched four innings against Duke, allowing four hits, no earned runs and recorded six strikeouts. In 14 total innings pitched, he has given up 18 hits, and two earned runs for a 1.29 ERA. Ohlendorf has 14 strikeouts for the season.
I'm Honored - In 2001 Ryan Quillian became the first Princeton hurler to be named the Ivy League Pitcher of the year in the award's 24-year history. He posted a league-leading 1.30 ERA and 4-1 record in Ivy action.
O' Captain, My Captain - Shortstop Bat Boran is Princeton's captain for the 2002 season
