PRINCETON, NJ - Trevor Smith's 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 win over David Lynn at second singles lifted Princeton to a 4-3 win over Pennsylvania in heated Ivy League men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Levy Tennis Pavilion. The Tigers improve to 8-6, 1-0 Ivy League with the win, while the Quakers drop to 10-7, 0-1.
Princeton got the match started by clinching the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches. Judson Williams and Tim Kofol won a tight 9-8 (3) decision over Ryan Harwood and Frantisek Stejskal at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 team of Dan Friedman and Josh Burman defeated Todd Lecher and Brian Barki 8-3 and Hendrick Chasse and Darren Joe picked up an 8-6 win over David Lynn and Anthony Pu.
Williams and Kofol each won their singles matches in straight sets. Williams defeated Stjskal 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 and Kofol handed Lecher a 6-3, 6-0 loss at No. 5 singles but Penn picked up wins at third, fourth and six singles to set the table for Smith, who clinched the win.
Next up on Princeton's schedule is a pair of Ivy League matches. They will host Brown on Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. and Yale on Saturday, April 6 at noon.
