Avery Kiser Wins Individual Title At William & Mary Invitational

Williamsburgh, Va. - Freshman Avery Kiser captured medalist honors at the 2002 William & Mary Invitational with Sunday's one-under-par score of 70 in Williamsburg, Va. Princeton placed second as a team, finishing two shots back of James Madison with a team score of 615.
The Tigers entered the day tied with JMU for third overall behind host William & Mary and Yale, but the Dukes finished with a 301 in the final round to take the team title while Princeton shot rounds of 312 and 301 en route to a second-place showing.
Kiser led all golfers on the final day after shooting a 78 in Saturday's first round. She finished with a 148, one stroke ahead of teammate Meg Nakamura, who finished tied for second overall with a 149. Nakamura scored rounds of 77 and 72 in the tournament.
Princeton's Esty Dwek also placed in the Top-10 with a two-day score of 153. Dwek tied for ninth overall while captain Vanessa Redman shot a 54-hole score of 165. Taryn Haladay completed the Princeton scoring with a two-round score of 169.
Megan Milam competed as an individual and finished first among all individuals not included in team scoring. Milam shot rounds of 75 and 82 and finished tied for 21st overall.
William & Mary and Yale led after the first day of competition, but Sunday's final round left WMU in third with a 623 and Yale in fourth with a 624.
