Cambridge, Mass. - Annie Olson had a team-high two goals as the Tigers fell to Hartwick 11-9 in a ECAC Championships semifinal match up. The Tigers had defeated Iona 11-7 and UMass 10-5 earlier in the tournament to advance to the semifinal round.
"We just didn't finish our chances," said head coach Luis Nicolao about the Hartwick match. "We would fall behind, battle back, make a mental mistake and fall behind again." The Tigers went 0-4 on man-up opportunities including a missed penalty shot.
Princeton opened a 2-0 lead early in the match but the Hawks battled back and Princeton at one point was down 5-2. The Tigers battled back to even the score at 5-5 yet failed on two man-up opportunities and once again gave the lead back to Harwtick.
Joanna Armstrong, Jenny Edwards, Adele McCarthy-Beauvais, Kelly Melia-Teevan, Julie Miller, Courtney Welsh and Kathryn Parolin each had one goal in the Princeton lost.
McCarthy-Beauvais led the Tigers in the match against UMass, tallying three goals. Cassie Nichols and Olson each scored two goals and Melia-Teevan, Welsh, and Armstrong each had one. Madeline McCarthy had eight saves in the game.
