Princeton, N.J. - Eric Eikenbary was named assistant men's swimming coach at Princeton University after serving as the assistant coach at Kansas for the past two years. He joins head coach Rob Orr's staff after Marc Benvenuti, the assistant coach for the last two seasons, opted for a head-coaching job earlier this year.
Eikenbary is a 1994 graduate of Ashland University, where he earned All-America status each of his four year while earning all-conference honors an amazing 26 times. He served as a student assistant at Ashland after finishing a career in which he set eight school records. Eikenbary spent his first two years after college teaching high school and coaching the Van Wert (Ohio) YMCA Marlins. He then moved on to the University of Findlay, spending two seasons as a graduate assistant before accepting the head coaching position in 1998.
"We're very excited to have Eric join our staff," says Orr. "With an excellent academic and athletic background, I am sure that he will help us maintain the high level of success that is synonymous with Princeton."
Originally from Van Wert, Ohio, Eikenbary earned his bachelor's degree in English Education from Ashland and an M.S. in Education from Findlay, where he served as an Associate Professor. He is currently a member of the American Swimming Coaches Association as well as the College Swimming Coaches Association.
