Freshman Derek Javarone made his debut at Princeton Stadium a memorable one, converting on two field goals and four extra points to help lead Princeton to a 34-19 victory over Lafayette.
After successfully converting on an extra point in the opening quarter, Javarone was called to kick three times in the second quarter. Beginning with a 32-yard field goal with 12:59 remaining in the game and ending with two more extra points, Javarone was perfect.
Javarone's biggest kick, a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, ended a 19-0 run by Lafayette that had gotten the Leopards back into the game. The career-best kick came with 13:30 remaining in the game, and put Princeton ahead by eight points. Javarone added an extra point on a one-yard touchdown run by Cameron Atkinson later in the fourth quarter.
