Princeton Water Polo Sweeps Honors At Eastern Banquet

PRINCETON, N.J. - The night before the men's water polo team opens play at the Eastern Championships, Princeton swept individual awards at the annual Eastern Banquet. Junior Goalkeeper Peter Sabbatini was named the Southern Division MVP, freshman Reid Joseph earned Rookie of the Year honors and head coach Luis Nicolao was named Coach of the Year.
Sabbatini, who has 151 saves this year, earned first-team All-Southern honors along with senior Dan McKenna and sophomore John Stover. McKenna has 38 goals, 14 assists and 16 steals while Stover has a team-high 48 goals to go along with 11 assists and 18 steals.
Sophomore Jamal Motlagh was named to the All-Southern second team after recording 19 goals, eight assists and 22 steals for the Tigers.
Princeton plays MIT at Navy today at 1 p.m. in the first round of the Eastern Championships.
