KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Several Princeton wrestlers placed high at the Kutztown Invitational on Wednesday, November 26th, including a duo of second-place finishers. Matt DeNichilo (165) and Jack Fleming (174) were finalists, with Fleming coming one point away from a title.
Princeton started to gain some team momentum in the middleweights, beginning with a fifth-place finish by Will Trudell at 141 pounds. Matt Piselli raised the bar a bit at 149 pounds, placing third, and Andrew Iannuzzi matched that finish at 157 pounds.
DeNichol0 and Fleming each reached the finals, while Ed Yanchuck took third at 197 pounds. DeNicholo never really got a chance to win his title, getting pinned by Kutztown's Az Numerato in 45 seconds. Fleming had a much better chance, but fell 3-2 in his final against Kutztown's Christian Luciano.
Princeton placed fifth in the tournament, and will wrestle at home against Wisconsin on Saturday, Dec. 6.
