Turnovers Cost Women's Hoops 58-51 Loss To Wake Forest

Katy O'Brien scored four three-pointers and finished with 14 points in Princeton's 58-41 loss to Wake Forest at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers committed 31 turnovers and the Demon Deacons converted those into 32 points to turn a 28-25 halftime edge into as great as a 20-point second-half lead.
Princeton played evenly with Wake Forest for the first half despite giving up the first four points of the game to free throws. After a jumper by Princeton's Kelli Hughes, the Deacs built a 10-point lead with help of Tonia Brown's six points in the paint. Wake led 12-2 at 14:09.
O'Brien then hit four three-pointers in a six-minute span and Casey Lockwood drilled a three of her own to give Princeton its first and only lead of the game, a 23-22 edge at 4:04. O'Brien finished the half with 12 points while Brown had 10 for Wake. Princeton committed 17 first-half turnovers but shot 59% from the floor and 71% from three-point range to stay in the game. The Tigers opened the second half with five turnovers in the first two minutes, and Brown scored eight points to help the Deacs to a 19-4 run and an 18-point lead at 11:37. Princeton was never able to recover, shooting just 7 for 25 (28%) from the floor and 1 for 11 (9.1%) behind the arc while adding 14 more turnovers. Wake Forest outscored Princeton 30-16 in the second half.
O'Brien scored just two points in the second half but finished with a team-high 14 points. She has now scored four three-pointers in each of Princeton's last three games. Casey Lockwood had nine points and five rebounds while Katy Digovich added four points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Brown finished with a game- and career-high 18 points and eight rebounds for Wake Forest.
The Tigers return to action this Sunday, Dec. 21 when they host their second straight ACC opponent, Georgia Tech. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
