Men's Swimming Atop Standings After Day 1 of H-Y-P Meet

Jesse Gage, Carl Hessler and Garth Fealey each won an individual event and a team event as the Princeton men's swimming team claimed leads over Harvard and Yale after the first day of the H-Y-P meet at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.
Princeton led Yale 141-44 and Harvard 97-89 in the double dual format. Harvard led Yale 154-31.
The conclusion of the meet will take place on Sunday.
Princeton claimed wins in six of the ten events held Saturday. The team of Jesse Gage, Mike Salerno, Scott Bynum and Jamie Leahy started the day off on the right foot for Princeton, earning a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Princeton's next win came in the 100 yard breaststroke as Garth Fealey topped the competition.
The Tigers won the next two events with Carl Hessler winning the 200 yard butterfly and Gage placing first in the 50 yard freestyle. Princeton rounded out the day with a win in the 400 yard medley relay by the team of Steve Fleming, Fealey, Hessler and Gage.
In diving, Princeton's Kent DeMond won at one meter.
