Princeton, N.J. - Princeton cashed in on only one of seven man-advantage opportunities as it suffered its first loss of the season in women's water polo, falling to UC-Santa Barbara 8-4 on Sunday afternoon at De Nunzio Pool. Seniors Adele McCarthy-Beauvais and Jenny Edwards combined for three Princeton's four goals and the Tigers dropped to 2-1 on the year.
The Tigers kept the entire game close, but a scoreless second quarter and a missed 4-meter shot hurt them in the end. McCarthy-Beauvais scored two goals while Edwards notched one in the loss. Edwards also had four steals and freshman Megan Donahue registered a goal and an assist.
"This was a great game for us to play," says Princeton assistant coach Serela Kay. "It was our third game of the season and it showed us what we need to focus on."
Princeton was scheduled to play George Washington at 4:40 p.m. but due to adverse weather conditions, the game was cancelled.
