Water Polo Upsets No. 10 UC San Diego in Overtime

San Diego, Calif. - The 17th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team went 1-1 on Saturday, pulling off an upset win over the 10th-ranked UC San Diego Tritons 6-5 in overtime, and falling to the top-ranked UCLA Bruins 10-1 in a mini-tournament at UCSD's Canyonview Pool.
In the nightcap, Princeton edged 10th-ranked UC San Diego in sudden death. The teams were even through each of four regulation periods and two three-minute overtimes. The Tigers finally ended it with the game-winner less than a minute into the first three-minute sudden death period. Adele McCarthy-Beauvais and Keala Carter each had a pair of goals for Princeton.
Earlier in the day, Princeton went up against the nation's top team , UCLA. UCLA jumped out to a 7-0 halftime lead and only allowed one Princeton goal in the second half. Natalie Golda had a hat trick for UCLA, while McCarthy-Beauvais scored Princeton's lone goal.
The Tigers continue their spring break trip Sunday when they meet San Diego State and Pacific.
