Men's Golf Opens Spring With Fifth-Place Finish At Diablo Grande

Patterson, Calif. - Junior Greg Johnson registered a final round score of 73 and Princeton scored a three round total of 933 to place fifth at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate in Patterson, Calif. The Tigers placed two individuals among the field's Top-10 and finished the spring's first tournament only 11 strokes out of third place.
Johnson posted rounds of 75-78-73 and placed sixth overall. Senior Cassidy Traub opened the tournament with a two-under par 70 and finished with a two-day total of 227 to place eighth overall. Wisconsin won the tournament and dominated the leaderboard with Joel Rechlice (217), Brian Brodell (222) and Kevin Tassistro (222) taking the top three individual spots.
Sophomore Creighton Page finished in a tie for 27th with a three-round score of 238. Freshman Jason Gerken (242) and sophomore David Huestis (266) rounded out Princeton's scorers. Senior Nat Hoopes and freshman John Locke competed as individuals. Hoopes scored a 230 to place him in a tie for 13th overall and Locke shot a 247, good enough for 39th.
The Tigers return from the West Coast and continue the spring schedule by traveling to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, April 5-6.
