Women's Water Polo Stymied By No. 7 Loyola Marymount

Los Angeles - The 17th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team suffered a 5-2 loss to seventh-ranked Loyola Marymount Wednesday afternoon at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center.
Loyola Marymount jumped ahead with a goal from Devon Wright just two minutes into the contest. The Tigers would tie the game 40 seconds later when Adele McCarthy-Beauvais scored with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter. The Lions however reassumed the lead on a goal from Julia Wald with 38 seconds remaining in the frame.
The Lions scored three times in the second period to pull away from Princeton. Goals from Jessica Conner, Teresa Guidi and Jamie Kroeze gave the Lions a 5-1 lead into the half. The lead would stand as the Tigers would add just one goal in third period by Jenny Edwards.
Lion goalie Rachel Riddell was the story throughout the game as she stopped 17 Tiger shots to earn the win. Princeton's Madeline McCarthy stopped five Lion shots.
