WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Princeton baseball team could only muster two hits Sunday afternoon as the Tigers fell to 4-12 on the season with a 15-0 loss at William & Mary. The game was the final one of Princeton's 12-game spring break road trip.
William & Mary broke through on Princeton starter Jason Vaughan in the bottom of the first to claim a lead that would never be surrendered. The Tribe tallied two runs in the first inning and then scored in each odd inning of the game, posting three in third, five in the fifth, and five again in the seventh.
Princeton used five pitchers on the day. Vaughan made his second start and pitched three innings and was credited with his first loss of the year. Also making appearances for the Tigers were Brian Kappel, Thomas Pauly, Worth Lumry and Aaron Herr. Lumry's appearance was his team-leading sixth of the season.
On the offensive side, the Tigers were only able to have two hits and five base-runners. Steve Young singled to right-center in the third for his 16th hit of the season while Andy Salini singled to left in the fourth for his ninth hit.
Princeton has one more road game before its home opener next Saturday afternoon against Vermont. The Tigers travel to Monmouth on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
