Princeton, N.J. - Princeton outfielder B.J. Szymanski was today named Ivy League Rookie of the Week and senior pitcher Ryan Quillian was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll
Szymanski currently leads Princeton in most offensive categories after appearing in all of Princeton's games, going 16-for-46 for a .347 batting average. He went 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in a 7-6 extra innings win over William & Mary and has had two separate five-game hitting streaks this season.
Quillian went 1-1 in his two starts during the weekend trip. He earned his first win of the season when Princeton downed William & Mary 11-8. In his two starts during the week, he pitched 13 innings and allowed just five earned runs on 10 hits and posted 11 strikeouts.
Team Notes:
Princeton completed its spring break road trip at 4-8 and now sits at 4-12 on the season ... During the trip, the Tigers earned wins against Old Dominion, North Carolina and two against William & Mary ... David Boehle allowed four runs in six innings to earn Princeton's first win of the season, a 12-4 decision over Old Dominion ... Princeton's second win of the year came from Mark Siano who pitched a complete game against North Carolina ... Princeton then picked up two wins over William & Mary. Bill Broome earned the win on Friday night and Ryan Quillian won on Saturday ... BJ Szymanski leads the Tiger offense with a .345 batting average ... He has appeared in the most games for Princeton and leads the team in hits ... Tim Lahey homered four times over the week and leads the team in that category. Four homers is one less than his career total from his first two seasons ... Four is also more than any Tiger reached a season ago ... Freshman Andy Salini leads the Tigers in RBIs with 11, 10 of which came during the spring break trip. He had a season high five RBIs in a loss to North Carolina. He also has belted two homeruns.
