ITHACA, N.Y. - The Tigers fell behind early and never recovered as Cornell clinched a home Ivy League win, 64-50, and jumped ahead of Princeton in league standings.
The Tigers came out cold, shooting just 26 percent from the field in the first half and digging themselves into as much as a 14 point deficit. Cornell led Princeton 31-20 at the half.
Allison Cahill (14 points) and Rebecca Brown (12 points) combined for more than half of Princeton's scoring and also led the Tigers on the boards with six and eight rebounds, respectively. Cahill dished out a game-high six assists.
The Big Red had a balanced attack, as Lynell Davis led all scorers with 16 points, and Karen Force, Dani Aretino, and Lauren Kilduff added 12, 11, and 11 points apiece. Cornell also out-rebounded the Tigers with 50 boards to Princeton's 32. Aretino grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds, including 11 defensive, and Davis pulled down nine.
Princeton falls to 9-17 overall and 4-8 in the Ivy League with two games remaining this season. The women travel tomorrow night to Columbia, where they look to avenge a 75-66 loss to the Lions in early February. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
