New York, N.Y. - On Columbia's senior night and final game of its season, the Lions showed up with a spark and never lost their fire.
Columbia led throughout the game but Princeton came within one point with just over six minutes to play. Led by freshman Rebecca Brown in the paint, the Tigers traded baskets with the Lions and remained within reach until the final buzzer. Brown scored 18 second-half points and finished with a game-high 31 points.
The Lions led by as much as 13 points but Princeton used 13 different players to keep its pace for 40 minutes. Maureen Lane shot 5-for-5 from the free throw line and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive end. Allison Cahill chipped in six points and four assists in 35 minutes.
Columbia's victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Lions, which started after the team defeated Princeton in early February. Senior Patricia Kern finished her career at Columbia with a team-high 12 points on the night, while Carolyn Schook and Nicole Lesko each added 10 points.
Princeton fell to 9-18 overall and 4-9 in the Ivy League, with just one game remaining on its schedule. The Tigers travel to Penn on Wednesday for their season finale.
