PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Despite ending Brown's 18-match streak of capturing the doubles point, the Princeton men's tennis team could not top the defending Ivy League champion this afternoon. Zachary Pasanen took the decisive third set at No. 4 singles 6-4 over Andrew Lieu to send Brown to a 4-3 win.
The doubles team of Dan Friedman and Darius Craton (No. 1) and Lieu and Hans Plukas (No. 3) gave Princeton the early edge with wins in their doubles matches. David Gopstein and Trevor Smith avenged their loss in doubles by each winning three-set singles matches, but no other Princeton player was able to get the critical fourth match. Lieu came closest, winning the first set 6-3 before dropping the final two sets 6-3 and 6-4. Princeton returns home for an Ivy League weekend next weekend, beginning Friday against Harvard.
